MARCIA CLARK SPEAKS OUT AT THE 7TH ANNUAL YWHISPER FUNDRAISING GALA

CALGARY, November 17, 2017 — YW Calgary is proud to host the 7th annual YWHISPER Fundraising Gala featuring keynote speaker Marcia Clark at Calgary TELUS Convention Centre.

Marcia Clark is most notable as the lead prosecutor in the high profile People of the State of California v. O.J. Simpson case. In addition to her background as a criminal lawyer, Ms. Clark is also a powerful advocate for women’s rights through her efforts to bring awareness to the issues of domestic violence, social injustice and gender discrimination in the media and workplace.

“We are delighted to host Marcia Clark at this year’s YWHISPER Gala,” says Sue Tomney, CEO, YW Calgary. “There are so many dimensions to her life that connect for each of us and for the women YW supports every day; an accomplished professional, a loving mother and an advocate for women’s rights. The harsh criticism Ms. Clark faced being in the public eye and her experiences with sexism, harassment and media bias are relatable for many women today.”

A leader in the community for more than 106 years, YW advocates for a safe and equitable community. As YW’s largest fundraising event, YWHISPER Gala raises funds to support programs and services to help women and their families thrive while advocating for women’s safety, social and economic rights. This year, the highly-anticipated event will host more than 650 guests.
