Judi Osborne devoted more than 30 years of her life to YWCA Calgary as an employee and volunteer. On April 22, 2004, after a lengthy illness Judi passed away. At her request an endowment fund, The Judi Osborne Memorial Fund was created to help “women achieve self-sufficiency.”
Earnings within the endowment fund are disbursed according to Judi’s wishes to YWCA Canada and to YW Calgary, the fund administrator. Judi would be thrilled to know that the fund has enabled YW to assist women on their road to self-sufficiency.

It doesn’t matter if it’s used to pay for job training, or to buy pantyhose. What matters is helping these women to help themselves.”– Judi Osborne
An endowment fund is created when a donor specifies that a gift is to be invested and only the income earned on that gift may be used for a specific purpose. The gift amount is referred to as the principal or corpus and is held in a fund that is managed by a finance department.
