MEDIA ADVISORY: TERRY CREWS SPEAKS AT 8TH ANNUAL YWHISPER FUNDRAISING GALA

WHAT:

YW Calgary is proud to host Terry Crews, actor, activist and one of TIME Magazine’s 2017 “Persons of the Year” as the keynote speaker at the sold-out 8th annual YWHISPER Fundraising Gala on Tuesday, Nov 20. This year’s YWHISPER Fundraising Gala is the largest in YW’s history with more than 900 guests raising funds to support YW’s programs and services. YW is also hosting an afternoon event where Mr. Crews will speak about gender equality and masculinity with the students of Nelson Mandela High School.

In addition to his successful and ongoing acting career, Mr. Crews is an outspoken activist on the topic of masculinity and gender roles having been called “one of the most progressive and thoughtful voices in gender criticism” by Jezebel.

DETAILS:              

On Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., media are invited to participate in a media conference following Mr. Crew’s afternoon presentation to the students of Nelson Mandela High School.

Media representatives will have the opportunity to speak with Terry Crews, Sue Tomney CEO of YW Calgary and Teresa Martin Principal of Nelson Mandela High School during the conference.

Media must arrive at the main office of Nelson Mandela High School by 1:30 p.m. to ensure timely set-up prior to the conference.

Media are expected to arrive with prepared questions for spokespeople.

The afternoon event with Nelson Mandela High School provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of warriors and advocates to consider their role in creating safe and equitable communities. The YWHISPER Fundraising Gala is YW’s largest fundraising event of the year and provides an opportunity to elevate the voices of women.
