THE YWCA REACH

We Advocate

For Her.

At YWCA, advocacy is central to our approach to creating lasting change.

Government partners provide both direct and indirect funding for many of our programs and services. They also shape the policy and funding decisions that impact our sector, our staff and our clients. That’s why we advocate not only for our organizational needs, but also for broader changes to policies, legislation and funding frameworks that benefit our community.

We adapt our approach to reflect changing political landscapes, ensuring our voice remains strong and relevant. From federal decisions on immigration and housing, to provincial leadership on social services and funding, to municipal priorities like zoning and transportation, YWCA is present and engaged in advocating for a more equitable future.

We work with funders, community partners and all three levels of government.

Together, we develop and implement policies and investments that support the people and communities we serve. Our advocacy focuses on:

Gender equity
Economic empowerment
Affordable housing
Gender-based violence
Affordable childcare
Early childhood education and literacy
Truth and reconciliation

How you can help.

Your donation fuels advocacy and action. Every dollar helps us advocate for policies and programs that advance gender equity, affordable housing, childcare and healthy relationships. By giving, you’re not just supporting our programs and services, you’re helping build a safer, more equitable future for women and families in our community.
