THE YWCA REACH

We’re standing

with her and

never standing still.

For more than 115 years, YWCA Calgary has been standing with women as they move from vulnerability to opportunity.

We walk with her in crisis, advocate with her for systemic change, and celebrate with her as she thrives. She can. She will. And we are with her every step of the way.

Who we are

Our Values

Integrity: We foster a foundation of trust.

We are driven by our social purpose, being fair and consistent, and doing the right thing.

Innovation: We challenge the status quo.

We understand risks, we learn, we have courage, and in the ground-breaking agenda for change.

We bind together as a unit when members of our community are feeling left behind.

Stand With Her.

At the centre of our 2025–2030 strategic plan is our North Star: Stand With Her. It is our promise to walk alongside women—meeting them where they are, recognizing their unique journeys and supporting them every step of the way.

Who we are

Our History.

Since 1910, YWCA Calgary has been leading change for women and families. From sheltering women in crisis to advancing systemic advocacy, our legacy is one of resilience, growth, and transformation.

1910-30

Building a foundation for women’s independence.

YWCA Calgary begins by supporting women arriving in the city with housing, employment support and English language instruction, while advocating for fair wages and equal rights.

Community Impact.

From housing, mental health and childcare to economic empowerment, our programs reach thousands every year. Beyond the numbers, our impact leads to stronger women, healthier families and a more equitable Calgary.

Equity, Diversity
and Inclusion.

Rooted in over a century of history, YWCA Calgary is committed to building an inclusive and sustainable future through an Intersectional Feminist lens that acknowledges our history, challenges power structures and approaches equity work with intention and care.
