YWCA OF CALGARY CLIENTS FROM FAMILY VIOLENCE SHELTER AND DOWNTOWN HOMELESS RESIDENCE MOVED TO SAFETY
June 21, 2013
Calgary, Alberta: As of 1:30pm June 21, 2013 approximately 70 women and their children from two YWCA of Calgary shelters are now together and safe on high ground in Northwest Calgary.
The YWCA would like to express their appreciation to the City of Calgary Emergency Services for their exceptional response in creating an evacuation centre that was sensitive to the needs of highly vulnerable women.
In addition, the Calgary Board of Education has been of great assistance, insuring that all the women residing with the YWCA have a safe and secure place to stay during this crisis.
Further updates will be provided on items the YWCA may need to ensure the continued safety and well being of women and children as is necessary.
