Privacy Statement

YWCA collects, uses and discloses personal information as authorized or permitted by Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable laws, including for purposes that are reasonable for the delivery of its programs and services, the protection of YWCA property and the safety of all occupants.

Notification and Consent

YWCA obtains your consent, with some exceptions, in writing or orally, to collect, use and disclose your personal information. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time, but this may result in YWCA having to change or terminate the services provided to you.

Questions or changes to consent should be directed to your YWCA program or service, or to the YWCA Privacy Office at privacy@ywcalgary.ca. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy, 5.3 Consent and Notification Standards.

Access and Correction

You have a right to access and request correction to your personal information in YWCA’s custody and control, subject to some exceptions as per PIPA and other applicable laws.

Requests for access or correction can be submitted online at: https://interceptum.com/s/en/Request_for_Information_and_Correction

Requests by guardians or third parties on behalf of someone must include supporting documentation such as a court order or release of information.

YWCA will respond to requests within 30 calendar days but has the right to an extension. Delivery of personal information is via password protected email.

In some instances, YWCA charges a fee for this service. You will be notified if fees are applicable to your request, and you may be required to pay a deposit in advance.

Safeguarding and Destruction

YWCA is committed to safeguarding your personal information and uses administrative (e.g., YWCA Privacy Policy), physical (e.g., locks, shredding of documents) and technical (e.g., antivirus software, firewalls, passwords) controls to safeguard your personal information. YWCa only retains your personal information for as long as is reasonable and then securely destroys it.
