Celebrating Generosity and Community at YWCA Calgary’s 115th Annual General Meeting
On Tuesday, June 23, YWCA Calgary celebrates our 115th Annual General Meeting (AGM), reflecting on the year behind us, celebrating the strength of our community and recognizing the people who make our work possible.
At the heart of this year’s AGM is a powerful theme: Stand With Her. More than our North Star, this theme is the foundation of our new Strategic Plan and the inspiration behind a bold, forward‑thinking donor initiative: the Stand With Her Fund.
The Stand With Her Fund represents a visionary commitment to trust‑based philanthropy, an approach rooted in confidence in YWCA Calgary’s leadership, expertise and unwavering dedication to women and their families. It honours our history, strengthens our future and creates a meaningful pathway for donors who want to invest in long‑term, community‑driven impact. The Stand With Her Fund establishes a new way for donors to invest in meaningful, sustained support that advances equity for women and families across Calgary.
Honouring Transformational Leadership
This year, we are proud to recognize the founding donors whose early commitment helped bring the Stand With Her Fund to life. Their belief in trust‑based philanthropy and their confidence in YWCA Calgary’s mission have set the stage for a stronger, more resilient future for women and their families. Their leadership reflects what it means to invest with purpose and to champion innovation, stability and long‑term impact.
Introducing the Stand With Her Award
At this year’s AGM, we are also launching a new award series: the Stand With Her Award. Meaningful change requires collective effort and we are fortunate to be surrounded by supporters, volunteers, partners and advocates who help us transform lives every day.
This year, YWCA Calgary will present three awards:
- Stand With Her Donor Award – Kathy, Richard and the Sendall Family
- Stand With Her Volunteer Award – Hubert Hwang, long‑standing community member of YWCA’s Finance and Audit Committee
- Stand With Her Community Award – Sal Howell, restauranteur, entrepreneur, Founder and Proprietor of River Café and Deane House
These awards honour those who help build a stronger, more equitable community through sustained, value-driven support. We extend our gratitude to each recipient for their commitment to standing with women and families in Calgary.
