Yasmina and her three children are one of the families that have reached out to YW Mary Dover House. Yasmina said she was a victim of family violence for many years.
“All my things in the house all broke, then my husband started to beat me,” she said.
Finally, Yasmina packed up her courage, her three young children, and came to Calgary where she settled into YW Mary Dover House.
She is now living in the community and calls her modest two-room apartment with four beds home. Yasmina says she feels safe here with her children. She is attending school to improve her English, applying for affordable housing and looking forward to getting a job.”
