During World War II, Mary Dover volunteered as a recruiting officer for the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC), serving in England during the Blitz. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel – one of Canada’s first female officers – Mary commanded the CWAC base in Kitchener, Ontario, implementing programs to recruit and support women in uniform. After her time in the military Mary focused on the betterment of Calgary, serving two terms as an alderman and volunteering in countless service organizations.
