Project Description

From health and literacy to education and poverty reduction Marion Coutts Carson made a difference.
After arriving in Calgary with her husband in 1893 she took note of the prevalence of tuberculosis and toiled for years to help establish the first TB sanatorium in Alberta in 1910.
She sat on both the Calgary School and Library Boards, and chaired the City Health Committee, leading the establishment of free clinics for school children and a milk program for underprivileged children.
