Project Description

1997

Margaret Waterchief is known as an angel of mercy among Calgary downtown residents marginalized by poverty and multiple other barriers.
A member of the Siksika Nation and a residential school survivor, Margaret provided much-needed compassion, love and spiritual guidance for homeless people and those in crisis through CUPS for many years. The first Indigenous woman to be ordained by the Anglican Diocese of Calgary, Margaret combined the traditions of her Blackfoot roots with Christian teachings to care for and connect with her community.
