Project Description


Louise Johnston was a tireless leader in agriculture and education. After marrying and settling on a farm east of Calgary, she founded the local chapter of the United Farm Women of Alberta in 1929. Louise served for two decades as a provincial director and then president of the organization, and sat on the boards of the Alberta and Canadian Federations of Agriculture and many others. At the same time, Louise was a director and then president of the Alberta Education Council and a member of the University of Calgary Senate.
