Project Description

1927

Generations of Calgary children have Louise Riley to thank for a love of reading and literature.
In 1930 Louise joined the Calgary Public Library as the Children’s Librarian.
She helped to lead the development of the children’s section of the library and was a key figure in outreach to young readers through storytelling on a weekly radio show.
Over the course of her career Louise wrote two children’s books as well as a novel for adults.
