Project Description

Josie Nepinak, chair of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women committee in Calgary, has lost both an aunt and a cousin to murder.
And in her role as Executive Director of the Awo Taan Healing Lodge Society, every day Josie encounters women and children – Indigenous and non-Indigenous – fleeing violence.
Working for change, Josie not only helps women in crisis to escape from abuse but leads outreach and early intervention programs for youth and pre-teens to develop healthy relationships.
