Project Description

Founding just one hospital was not enough for Jean Drever Pinkham.
She helped found the Winnipeg General Hospital in her home province of Manitoba, before moving to Calgary with her husband and six children in 1887.
Once here, Jean helped to launch the Woman’s Hospital Aid Society, the local Council of Women and the Calgary chapter of the Victorian Order of Nurses as well as chairing the Hospital Fund Committee which raised enough money to build the Calgary General Hospital.
