Isabel Stevens had a keen eye for how to improve Calgary. Born in 1891, over the course of her life Isabel would lead or assist in the creation of as many as 32 advocacy, community-building and social justice organizations as Calgary grew. Her legacy includes the establishment of the John Howard Society of Calgary, Providence Creche, Calgary Family Service Bureau, Calgary Catholic Family Services, the Canadian Citizenship Council and the Council of Christians and Jews, to name just a few.
