Project Description

1927

Gladys Egbert was seven when she began studying piano in 1903, shortly after her family moved to Calgary.
Six years later the young virtuoso won a two-year scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. She was the Academy’s youngest student and the first Canadian to earn such honours. After London, Gladys traveled to New York for three more years of study before returning to Calgary and establishing a music studio, where she influenced generations of music students over the next 50 years.
