Emily Kerby was an educator and reformer.
Upon her arrival in Calgary in 1903, Emily immediately set to work creating a better city.
She raised funds for the establishment of the Calgary YWCA, which was founded in 1910.
She also helped to establish Mount Royal College, serving as one of the school’s first teachers and as joint principal of the institution.
An articulate communicator, she advocated for women’s rights in many areas including birth control, sex education, labour reforms and the right to vote.
