When she moved to Calgary in the mid-60s Dorothy Groves dove into the community, working with the University of Calgary Faculty Women’s Club, the Calgary Local Council of Women and the Calgary Status of Women Action Committee, as well as Planned Parenthood and the Calgary Birth Control Association.
She also helped found the Alberta Advisory Council on Women’s Issues and served on the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women.
Politically active, she ran for office at the Liberal candidate in three provincial elections.
