Project Description

1957

Betty Pedersen understood the critical role farm women play, not just in agriculture but in creating a just society.
Her lifelong advocacy for equal rights hinged on protecting the hard-won gains of earlier reformers and advancing the cause even further, based on women’s talent, intelligence and capability.
An active member of the Farm Women’s Union of Alberta and later the president of the Women of Unifarm, she sat on numerous boards and was a staunch campaigner for the status of women in Canada.
