This interactive live, webinar will explore the emerging topic of trauma-informed supervision in the human services.

Trauma-informed practice has transformed the human services.  Trauma-informed principles create welcoming and safe organizations for clients and practitioners alike.  These principles can also be applied to the supervision process to promote practitioner wellness and quality service delivery.

In this workshop supervisors will have an opportunity to explore how they can apply trauma-informed ideas to their work.

Presenter Information

Lana Bentley MSW, RCSW

Director, Program Strategy

A registered social worker and member of the clinical registry, Lana is YW Calgary’s Director of Program Strategy. Prior to joining YW, Lana worked with Alberta Health Services where she spent most of her time working in eating disorders and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy before going on to manage the psychiatric inpatient unit and psychiatric emergency room at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Lana has been a part-time faculty member at Mount Royal University for over ten years, and more recently began teaching at the University of Calgary. Lana is Vice-President of the Alberta College of Opticians and sits on the boards of Calgary Black Chambers and Youth Central Calgary.

Tonia Rodgers MSW, RSW

Tonia is the Manager of Counselling and Personal Development at YW Calgary. As a registered social worker with over thirteen years of experience, Tonia began her career in children’s services and later joined the non-profit sector to focus on family violence. Tonia has been in leadership roles for the past seven years, where she’s been able to share her passion for strengths-based leadership, and the prevention and treatment of family violence. Tonia holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University and received her Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University.

Course Completion & Evaluation

To receive ACE credits, participants must attend the full course, partial credits are not provided.  Certificates of completion are emailed to participants within five business days of receiving their completed course evaluation.

Course evaluations will be emailed to participants who complete the course. The evaluations can be completed online. You will have up to three business days to complete the surveys.

Refunds

Course registrations cancelled five or more business days prior to the course are refundable less a 25% administration fee. Unfortunately, cancellations with less than five business days’ notice are not refundable.

You are welcome to transfer your registration to another person with at least two business days’ notice. Should you wish to transfer your registration please email ContEd@ywcalgary.ca. Be sure to provide the workshop name and date, your name, and the name and contact information of the person who will be attending in your place.

Course cancellation

Please note that if the advertised course instructor is unavailable, we reserve the right to assign another member of our team to deliver the course.

In the event that we need to cancel the course due to unforeseen and/or extenuating circumstances, we will honor registration and reschedule the course for another date. In the event that you are unable to attend on the new date, a full refund will be offered.

Continuing education credits:

The continuing education credits for this course are recognized as “Category A Continuing Competence Credits” by the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

YW Calgary Continuing Education, provider 1785, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. YW Calgary Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 01/27/2022 to 01/27/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credits.
